Rahul Gandhi is a well-known politician and member of the Indian National Congress (INC) who was born on June 19, 1970. He is the grandson of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and the son of former Congress President Sonia Gandhi and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Rahul, a prominent figure in Indian politics for over 20 years, is a member of the influential Nehru–Gandhi family.
Rahul, who attended Harvard University, Rollins College in the United States, and Cambridge University in the United Kingdom, became involved in politics in 2004 after running for office and winning the Amethi seat in Uttar Pradesh. He has been the Congress party’s president from 2017 to 2019 and vice president from 2013 to 2017.
Rahul Gandhi is well-known for his campaigns on social justice, farmers’ rights, and unemployment. He has also been a strong opponent of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He continues to play a key role in opposition politics in spite of electoral setbacks.
He started the Bharat Jodo Yatra, a countrywide foot march in 2022–2023 with the goal of advancing democracy, harmony, and unity in India.
Rahul leads a rather quiet life away from politics, but he is well-known for his passion for reading, traveling, and working out. He is still an active participant in Indian politics and a member of parliament from Wayanad, Kerala, as of 2025.
